ABOUT SCAFFOLDING ACCESS

Scaffolding Access was founded in 1997, with one vehicle and 2 scaffolders. It has grown consistently year on year, both in turnover and in the scale of projects it can handle. It now employs 62 people working from 2 depots and has the manpower and expertise to fulfil commercial contracts of all sizes.

Now, Scaffolding Access is an experienced scaffolding company, operating throughout Southern England, East Anglia and the Midlands. The company operates a fleet of vehicles from our depots based in London, Essex and Hertfordshire. We work within various specialist industries including: Ministry of Defence Sites, Asbestos related works, Demolition, Hospitals, Museums, Airports, Police Stations and Schools. We also specialise in Social Housing Developments in Hackney, Lewisham and Southwark.

Our high-profile clients include VINCI Facilities, Ministry of Defence and Mitie. In our aim to work closely with clients we are achieving priority status with many and are now Priority One to Vinci Facilities. It is with pride that the majority of our work is either repeat business or via recommendation.

We have a dedicated management team with extensive knowledge of the scaffolding industry. Through this experience we are able to offer our clients full support from inception through to completion of the scaffold phase. In addition, with our construction knowledge we are able to foresee most issues from the initial commencement of the project, which means peace of mind to the client that when we leave site, the scaffold has been erected in the most cost effective and safe manner for the entirety of the project.

We have a fully documented and comprehensive Safety Management System, (SMS). Through the development of this system we are able to provide full support to all of our team and equally our clients.  The SMS has been developed over many years, taking into account changes in legislation and guidance. Through our health and safety based culture we have attained many accreditations which include the RoSPa Gold award and the award of an Asbestos Licence. The issue of an Ancillary Asbestos Licence demonstrates our commitment to health and safety and that our systems and processes withstand scrutiny by the Health & Safety Executive.

Our Quality Policy

Scaffolding Access is committed to providing scaffolding, cradle hire and erection services to the highest standards, and meeting or exceeding customer requirements. These requirements will include: overall satisfaction, on-time and right-first-time erection, project management and health & safety performance.

To achieve these goals the company operates a quality management system that works to enhance the abilities of all staff and support the effective operation of the project objectives.

Our Mission

Scaffolding Access has become a significant contractor in the construction industry by growing in a controlled way, taking on staff who expand the depth of our technical expertise, whom we value appropriately and intend to keep. This policy has resulted in excellent relations with our growing list of high profile clients and project completion times on – and often before – target.

Our Environmental Policy

Scaffolding Access is committed to protecting the environment by trying to secure a safe and happy environment for our children and grandchildren.  Accordingly, we have a fully documented Environmental Policy which embraces all of our operations and our road fleet complies with the highest standards of emissions. In addition, we take care to use suppliers that share our aspirations for a safe and cleaner environment.

Jeff Satwick

Company Secretary / Director & Accounts

Sarah Chisnall

Sarah founded Scaffolding Access with Jeff Satwick in May 1997 and has worked alongside Jeff in building the company up to its present position.  Sarah has always worked on the Accounts side, taking a break from work to raise their 3 sons and has now resumed her position in the Accounts Department as Director and Company Secretary.  Sarah works via remote access and is based in Chelmsford.

Operations Director

Stewart Savage

Stewart joined SAL in March 2018, as Operations Director, bringing over 35 years of experience, in the Industry, having worked for a number of major London Scaffolding Contractors, the last 15 years at Director level. Stewart stated, ‘I knew instantly from meeting MD and Owner Jeff Satwick, that we thought alike, and my skills, added to the present Management Structure, would help push the SAL Group forward in the marketplace. Now SAL have their Ancillary Asbestos Licence it’s an exciting addition to the core sectors of Refurbishment, Construction and Demolition’.

Operations Manager

Frank Smead

Frank has over 40 years of scaffolding experience, and brings a wealth of estimating experience to our team. Frank has great customer contact skills, and enjoys talking through his ideas with clients at all levels. He is always able to offer practical solutions to complex scaffolding issues.

Senior Contracts Manager

Grant Payne

Grant has joined Scaffolding Access as Senior Contracts Manager, and will head up our Asbestos Division. He started as an Asbestos Removal Operative in January 2000, then progressed to Supervisor. In 2003, Grant trained and became a Analyst, a role which he carried out for two years, before reverting back to Asbestos Removal Operative. In 2006, he became involved with scaffolding and specialised in the ancillary side of asbestos removal. This is a role he has enjoyed and progressed with to-date.

Office Manager & PA to MD

Jane Day

Jane has worked for the company for nearly 20 years and now runs the office in Rainham, as well as working as PA to Jeff Satwick.  Jane has a wide range of experience, including working for the Vice President of Citibank for 10 years and spending 8 years working with children with severe behavioural problems in Waltham Abbey for 8 years.  When the company was first started, Jane worked off an ironing board in a small conservatory!

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Mel McMahon

Mel has over 30 years involvement in all levels of the London scaffolding industry. This includes Project Contract Supervision and Management for rail, airports, power stations, and some of London’s more unique buildings such as the Victorian structures of Kew Gardens, the old & new Wembley Stadium’s, and the modern Westfield White City shopping village.

Contracts Manager

Jack Satwick

Jack has progressed and undertaken various roles within the company, and will now undertake the position of Contracts Manager within the group. Jack will be predominantly responsible for and will oversee our social housing, asbestos, demolition and other large contracts currently running. His training includes SMSTS and he has just obtained his CISRS Scaffolder Card Part II, and will shortly be undertaking a Scaffolder Inspection Course. Jack will also be shaving his beard off which will enable him to undertake the asbestos training for our newly acquired asbestos ancillary licence.

Site Supervisor

Jeff Hunt

Jeff has been scaffolding for over 30 years. He joined Scaffolding Access as scaffolder around 2011, and now works as Supervisor.  Jeff attends all sites issuing Scaff Tags, Handover Certificates and ensuring all Operatives are working to the correct procedures.

John Young

John has been scaffolding for over 30 years and has worked for Scaffolding Access for the past 20 years holding an Advanced Scaffold Ticket.  John is well known and respected by all our clients for his knowledge of scaffolding.

Office Administrator

Sarah Turpin

Sarah previously worked for National Westminster Bank for 8 years as both Copy Typist and Telephonist, before finally moving to the Isle of Dogs as a Customer Services Offices. Sarah then took a career break to raise her family before joining Scaffolding Access in August 2014. She has contributed to the smooth running of the office and has taken on many new duties, proving to be a great asset to the company.
